Needing to Believe

One of the most common statements I hear from people who write and speak about  the Law of Attraction is that you need to believe what you desire already exists in reality and is on it’s way to you in order to successfully manifest what you desire.

Yet, it is actually true? I raise this question because I have worked with many clients who are in recovery from trauma during their childhoods.  One of the unfortunate consequences of being abused is not believing you are worthy.  I have seen time and time again, and have gone through the same thing in my own recovery, how it is virtually impossible to believe that good things can happen for you if deep down you believe you are unlovable and do not belong.

So just how is it possible to believe in the possibility of something positive happening such as achieving financial success or going back to school to earn a degree if you’ve never experienced such before?  Just how do you “believe” in something you don’t necessarily believe in.  Does that mean you can’t manifest good things in your life?

While some may disagree with me, my experience has been that it isn’t necessary to believe first in order to receive. I have found though, that it is possible to manifest what you desire without believing first.  All you need to do are the following two things:

1. It is critical that you want to believe it is possible. Wanting to believe something is possible is often easier than believing it’s possible.

2. You must do your part in manifesting what you desire by taking the necessary action. The Universe only works with our cooperation so we must do what we can to manifest what we desire. The good news is that our part is always doable.

Certainly, it is easier if you have a degree of faith and believe deep down inside that you are worthy of receiving what you long for in your life.  However, for many people, it isn’t that easy.  Does that mean that manifesting their dreams isn’t possible?  I believe the answer to that question is no.
